Riccardo Longo is an Italian Fashion designer, who grew up with the passion for fashion since an early age in a little medieval town. Although he couldn’t attend a fashion school after his compulsory studies, he managed to keep alive his dream of working in the fashion world. After graduating from high school, he finally did his first step into a Famous Italian fashion Institute. That wasn’t the only training in fashion he got during the years , Riccardo Longo alternated periods of work with periods of training and internships in Italian companies and fashion schools recognized by the Roman high fashion environment. Among the various experiences we can include: Assistant fashion designer in Haute Couture, Fashion coordinator for a glamorous sportswear brand, Designer of Kids footwear and fashion illustrator teacher. The last training experience he got, was a Bridal Haute Couture course in Rome. This experience gave him the tools to take the first steps in the Bridal world and offering his service as couturier for special events bespoke dresses. The economic and political crisis in Italy forced him to seek fortune in Uk where he moved and restarted a new life. London has been the place where laying the foundations of his new project that is seeing him as the designer of a capsule collection of haute couture clothes. He started this project in the middle of the Covid pandemic and now he is aiming to catch the attention of extroverted ladies that want to come back to the social life in a unique way, modern but with an eye to the costs. The style is glamorous and generous in details with a strong and visible presence of the collection theme. Nothing is randomly entered during the building of an outfit; neither the contrasting fabrics choice, or the unusual combination of accessories and prints. He doesn’t need to travel to get inspiration and the inspiration can’t be just a travel.
He prefers travel by the imagination, relating and matching things apparently unmatchable wrapping them into a story. His challenge is always to catch the next seasons tastes and fit them into his imaginary environment where fabrics, colour and shapes result incredibly related each others. The approach to a bespoke consultation can be very different; for example when it comes to designing a wedding dress or special occasion one; that’s the time when he becomes like an interpreter of his customer as an actor does when playing a character for a movie. In that time can happen the miracle of giving back an original an unusual vision of the outfit that he wouldn’t have done without being influenced by his customer. He likes to think of dressing a woman with a strong nature or that is looking for add more character to her image. She has not to be afraid of showing off her self and being unique and different between the crowd; a woman that likes originality but balanced by class and elegance. She is a conscious admirer of the enormous research work behind a collection that add value to what she is wearing. Often the term “Haute Couture” is synonymous with classic style, antique and confined to exclusive events and environments. That’s not going to happen with Riccardo Longo dresses that are designed to be worn in a contemporary world without limits of use. All the Riccardo Longo Creations are highly crafted made in Italy by experienced artisan hands with years of experience in the Italian Haute couture. Fine finishing, hand stitching, hand embroidery and silk fabrics are just some of the common characteristics of his creations.
